My Dog Belle - A Success Story

"Ever feel helpless watching your pet digging, biting and scratching themselves raw? No amount of scolding or correction works, they just keep chewing themselves"

One day Belle, my 6 year old Vizsla started worrying with a spot on her haunch. Within days she was chewing, gnawing and whimpering night and day. She went from a sleek beautiful dog to pathetic mess with patches of bald, raw skin and painful self-inflicted sores. My dog was eating herself up!

what mange looks likeI left work to take her to the vet. He said it was an allergy. She got antihistamine and cortisone shots and he loaded me up with antibiotics to take home. I ended up with a fairly stoned dog that still kept us both up at night with her insane biting. For a while, she did seem to be improving, but 2 weeks later it was back with a vengeance.

"My dog was miserable and chewing herself raw. I was disillusioned, disheartened and desperate."

I’d had enough, so I started researching like a crazy man - dogs skin problems, ticks on dogs, dog mites, skin diseases, rashes, hot spots on dogs, fleas and microbes.

I learned that drugs, like Ivermectin, are often used on dogs to control itching and scratching. They were developed for livestock - like cows - but can be toxic to certain dogs and has even killed pets It’s a pesticide that actually doesn’t work on 1/3 of dogs.

I examined her skin more carefully using a magnifying glass, I discovered tiny mites - Sarcoptic mange mites. I’d learned about the different kinds of mites, how they tunnel into the skin and about their life cycles.

I was dealing with what is known as Sarcoptes Scabiei mites (also called ‘Sarcoptic mange’ or sometimes ‘the mange’).

"Instead of looking at just one part of a complicated problem I looked at the big picture to understand what I was really dealing with - the microbes called mites and their life cycle."

What is mange and how is it treated? Mange is a class of persistent contagious skin diseases caused by parasitic mites that tunnel and burrow in the host’s skin hair follicles or skin, depending upon their type. There are several types of mange and a detailed explanation of mange types can be found here in our FAQ section.get rid of mites

There’s a lot of information out there about treating mange, some bad and some good, so it took some time to sort out the truth about treating mange. I saw many heart-wrenching mange photos and realized that canine mange can really hurt your pet if left untreated, so I researched every remedy I could find. What I found was scary.

Many dog mange, and mange mite treatments are highly toxic and potentially damaging to an already traumatized skin and coat. No wonder there are so many miserable dogs out there. Cayenne pepper? Pesticides? Steroids? Lye? Motor oil? Really?

There was no comprehensive mite and skin damage treatment that covered all the bases. So I decided to develop a better way to care for dogs with Sarcoptic and Demodectic mange.

It wasn’t easy. It had to be safe & non-toxic. It had to deal with the root problem - the mites - and it had to really help my dog heal. It was vital that it actually get down to the mites where it could do some good. It couldn’t just sit on top of the skin like a spray or cream.

"A unique delivery system is needed to get the mite destroying ingredients deep inside the skin."

I refined a special ‘delivery system’ to get the treatment deep inside the skin where the mites tunnel, burrow and breed. I used a safe, yet aggressively effective natural miticide. I added safe exfoliating ingredients to help her shed the damaged tissue, and blended in a number of natural ingredients known to help fight infection, relieve itching, tackle inflammation and promote faster healing.

Belle’s insane scratching and chewing vanished overnight and the redness began to disappear. It was amazing at how quickly it worked. We both began sleeping through the night and the neurotic behavior stopped. All I can say is wow! Just wow.

I kept up the treatment long enough to break the mites’ life cycle. In that short amount of time most of here sores healed. Her skin looked great and hair was growing in.

"I knew I was on to something but I never expected a turnaround like that."

Happy Dog Naturals - Mite free dogsShe was a new dog by the time I took her back to the dog park. Another ‘regular’ had something that looked like mange to me. His owner was interested in Belle’s story so I brought her a supply. Another success story.

Then I sent some to my cousin who had gone so far as to have her dog neutered to help with his skin problems. Another huge turnaround. She jokingly called it ‘Mange Avenge’, but the name stuck.

Word spread and I found myself making a lot of mange treatment. People loved it and there were a lot of happy dogs. So guess what I named my company?

It’s been two years now and Belle is still mange-free! She has her beautiful coat again and is once again a happy dog herself.
